Parkrose Builders was established in 1975 by the late Ron Harvey and four partners, all carpenters who met while working for Sir Lindsay Parkinson. Parkrose initially provided a labour-only carpentry service for contractors such as Fairclough Building, R Mansell and Bernard Sunley & Sons.
By 1988 John James and Steve Harvey had joined the company and we made the transition into a Supply and Fix Carpentry & Joinery Specialist, working for main contractors such as John Laing Construction, AMEC, Trafalgar House Construction, M J Gleeson Group and Eve Construction, and on landmark projects such as The New Parliamentary Buildings, The National Physical Laboratory and Canterbury Crown & Magistrates Courts.
The Company has grown and progressed as a result of the quality and loyalty of its workforce and vast practical experience. We currently employ two Projects Managers and four Site Managers who have clocked up a combined 136 years service with the company, and we continue to recruit at least two trade apprentices each year.
Parkrose Builders currently employs forty-five site personnel, eight joinery shop personnel and nine management/office staff.
All site installation works are undertaken by our permanent Site Managers, Supervisors, Carpenters and Joiners. This is a team of highly skilled and motivated people who have, and continue to, produce quality workmanship of the highest order.
Over 20% of our site operatives have served, or are currently serving, a Construction Skills Apprenticeship with the company.
Parkrose manufactures all purpose-made Joinery in-house at our 13,500sq/ft manufacture facility in Rayleigh, Essex. Our manufacture capabilities include:
Parkrose Builders are committed to achieving excellent health and safety performance throughout all areas of our operation. Effective health and safety management is an integral part of our management system and we are continually striving to maintain a positive health and safety culture.
To ensure we are aware of the latest legislation and developments, we employ the services of Helmsman Safety Services, one of the UK’s leading consultants. This, together with regular training for our managers and operatives, allows us to maintain our reputation in the construction industry.
In 2005 we were awarded the Construction Skills Certification Scheme Certificate of Commitment – Gold Standard. This recognised our commitment to the scheme and achievement of at least 75% registration of our workforce under the scheme. We have since achieved 100% registration of our workforce.
Parkrose Builders are members of the British Safety Council and awaiting approval of an application for membership of CHAS (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme).
